Mark is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), licensed in the state of Tennessee. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Mississippi in 2004 with a Bachelor of Accountancy and an emphasis in Finance. He received a Masters of Accountancy from Ole Miss in 2005 and a MBA in Finance from the University of Tennessee in 2009. Mr. Barnett began his career in public accounting at KPMG as an audit associate, where he specialized in the audit of financial institutions. Mark worked on the audits of several publicly traded corporations, including one with over $29 Billion in assets.

Following KPMG, Mark worked as a Senior Associate and Supervisor in Assurance Services at Horne LLP, a large regional accounting firm based in Jackson, MS where he continued to specialize in financial services. Mark supervised and/or managed the audits of public and private companies in the financial, health care, construction, and retail industries. In addition to audit work, Mark also managed a Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 compliance project for a large publicly-traded health care provider.

Subsequent to his tenure at Horne LLP, Mark returned to the academic setting to obtain a MBA in Finance from the University of Tennessee. During this time he has also helped several start-up companies with initial funding, capital structuring, and profitability maximization as well as consulting and wealth management services.

Mark is an avid outdoorsman who loves to hunt, fish, hike, and compete in sporting clays competitions. He is a former Tennessee State Sporting Clays Champion as well as a two-time All-American. He was a fly-fishing guide in Crawford, CO and he is a devoted duck hunter. Mark's family is from Knoxville, TN.
